The treatment
The Adasystem includes the Adacolumn® adsorption column, Adamonitor blood pump with venous and arterial pressure monitor, and Adacircuit infusion line system. The Adasystem is approved for use in the EU and Japan and has carried the CE-mark since 1999.

For Adacolumn® treatment, blood is removed from one of the patient’s arms via a simple venipuncture (no AV shunt or femoral vein puncture is required). The blood is pumped through the Adacolumn®, where granulocytes and monocytes/macrophages are removed. [The extra corporeal flow rate is 30 mL/min under heparin anticoagulation.] After passing through the Adacolumn®, the blood is returned to the patient’s body through a venipuncture in the other arm. For each treatment, the patient is connected to the Adacolumn® for one hour.
